Drawing on both classical and punk influences, the progressive punk band whate has unveiled their latest track, By Torchietto.
Founded in Italy by lead singer Dave Dreamer, Birmingham-based whate draws from a wide range of influences. With inspiration spanning the cinematic mastery of composers like Hans Zimmer and Ennio Morricone to the energetic pulse of bands like Green Day, Sum 41, and Muse, whate creates a distinctive and eclectic sound. Layered with themes addressing urgent change and social injustice, their music invites listeners to engage and take action.

In 2022, whate released their debut single Can’t Breathe Anymore, and in 2023, they partnered with Rexius Records to amplify their sound and messages even further.
With their latest song, By Torchietto, whate takes their artistry to a new level. The track unfolds from the perspective of “the dreamer,” drawing on a concept inspired by Freud’s theory of the ego, id, and superego. In this narrative, two voices emerge: “the dreamer,” who expresses desires, and “the knight,” who represents what ought to be done. This interplay creates a layered, introspective experience for the listener.
By Torchietto opens with subtle, soothing elements, featuring intricate guitar passages that weave through David’s gentle vocal delivery. The song gradually intensifies, building into a vibrant composition marked by emphatic drumming and passion-filled vocals.
