Straight out of Widnes, England, The Racket is back with a rebellious new single ‘Why Are You Watching Me?’
The Racket – Why Are You Watching Me
Formed in 2015, The Racket is a four-piece alternative rock band from Widnes England, over the last 5 years they gained notoriety by selling out shows in Liverpool and Manchester, also by performing in important festivals like Liverpool Sound City and This Is Tomorrow.
Since 2017 they have been releasing hit after hit, which gave them the opportunity of being featured in important networks and sites like BBC1 TV and Fred Perry subculture.
Why Are You Watching Me? is the name of their most recent song, this particular track is a ferocious piece of work that embodies everything that makes garage rock such a unique experience, fast riffs, the catchy hook, the ‘in your face’ lyrics.
And is that lyrical aspect what makes this song incredibly appealing, there is a feeling of anti-totalitarianism in this, in words of the band itself, the current dystopian times we live in and the classic novel of Orson Welles ‘1984’ were the inspiration behind this tune and we can see it reflected in verses like: ‘You can hide, but they can seek, a thousand eyes are watching as you sleep’.
Why are you watching me is an energized jam with an outstanding lyrical display.
There is no doubt that the future looks very bright for this quartet. Why Are You Watching Me? was released this past March 11th, you can listen to it on all streaming platforms
