Shura heralds from England and Moscow (her mother was a Russian actress who turned down a role in ‘GoldenEye’, believing James Bond to be anti-Russian). She produces her own music and also works as a video editor, having finessed her song-writing during a particularly odd year post-University (where she worked with pumas in the Amazon). ‘Touch’ feels inspired by Blood Orange or early Madonna, but Shura’s a big fan of Janet Jackson’s ‘Velvet Rope’ too so there’s a definite pop ear here, amidst all the heartache.
