“Hazy” by Sector 5: is a mosaic of pop, rock and hip-hop.
Sector 5 – Hazy
An emerging quartet from Berlin, Sector 5 combine pop structures with a guitar-driven style to present something a little different than your standard indie-pop sound.
Meeting at BIMM Berlin, students Sami, Mika, Jules and Johann formed through a shared love of music-making. Playing at local venues such as Lido, Cassiopeia, Gretchen and Heimathafen Neukölln, Sector 5 are quickly establishing their name in the capital’s music scene.
Featuring the vocal talent of solo-artist Milla, new track “Hazy” unites an indie rock, bottom-heavy drum and bass foundation with soaring, jangly guitar tones. Contrasting an impassioned hip-hop style flow with charming pop vocals, the dialogue between both vocalists creates a slick and cordial atmosphere. Aiming to create a “dreamy vibe” to counteract the virulent nature of the song’s toxic character, the track succeeds in the sense of being a musical paradox.
The strength of the new single lies in the prominence of the individual band members, who each manage to steal the spotlight intermittently. Fusing the flavour of acts such as Daniel Caesar, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sam Tompkins, Sector 5 blends the best of all worlds. Marking the beginning of their collaboration with Paradise Entertainment & Distribution GmbH, it seems that the only way is up for this young German four-piece!
“Rich with emotion, “Hazy” is a track that is sensual and atmospheric in sound – perfect for the warm summer nights ahead.”
