Roger Bacon commands your attention with sizzling single ‘Shank,’ a track that packs a punch with its raw energy and gritty sound.
Roger Bacon – Shank
Hailing from Glasgow, Roger Bacon burst onto the scene in late 2024, winning a local battle of the bands. Despite it being their first ever performance, they have since begun to build up somewhat of a cult following from this and their subsequent, explosively energetic live gigs.
The four-piece band hopes to carve out their own distinctive sound within the alternative genre, and ‘Shank’ is proof they can bring home the bacon.
Recorded and self-produced in what they describe as a ‘crowded outhouse’ on the Isle of Cumbrae (just off the West Coast of Scotland), the DIY quality seeps through the track with the distorted sound and harsh instrumentation, granting a unique rawness and authenticity. Driven by its heavy guitars, ‘Shank’ plays like you are sitting in the room with them, in true garage-rock fashion.
“With a strong, punchy debut like ‘Shank’, Roger Bacon make room for themselves within the busy indie-rock scene.”
Already beginning to make waves locally, playing iconic Glaswegian venues like Nice ‘N’ Sleazys, Roger Bacon’s momentum has only just started, and if ‘Shank’ is any indication, there are more exciting things to come.
