RedrumSociety are a four-piece indie rock/pop outfit hailing from Florida, U.S. The recently released single ‘Release Me’ and its relatable message symbolizes this new, soaring moment for the band.
RedrumSociety – Release Me
The band was originally founded in 2008 by Dylan Lerner, Esdras Raymond, Esperanzo Wilcox and Zach Cohen. The quartet had met in high school and quickly connected through their shared passion for music. Unfortunately, bassist Dylan Lerner passed away in 2009, and the band started to lose steam before eventually breaking up. After finally overcoming years of substance abuse and mental health struggles, frontman Zach Cohen decided to reform RedrumSociety in 2018.
‘Release Me’ is a classic rock-infused indie cut containing a very interesting sense of dynamics, with its driving guitar chords and pulsating bass being enriched by the slick horn passages during the verses and bridge. However, the song’s centrepiece remains its compelling, highly-addictive chorus, elevated by the playful yet fully-committed vocal delivery.
Cohen wrote the song about his ex-girlfriend who left him to chase other experiences and how he dealt with the whole situation. The lyrics focuses on how he proceeded to get rid of the obsession of a failed romance while still struggling not to get lost in the middle of the inner chaos. And while the lyrics are in fact deeply personal, their encouraging message is universal, as explained by Cohen himself: “I hope that when people hear this song, they’ll be reminded never to give up no matter how down and out they seem to be.”
Release Me is a classic rock-inspired piece whose powerful message speaks to everyone.
Today, RedrumSociety consists of Zach Cohen on guitar and vocals, Andrew Platt on keyboards and vocals, Sean Chesal on drums and vocals, and Ruddy Simon on bass. Led by Cohen, they have released several singles with considerable success, with ‘All Night’ reaching no. 22 on the billboard rock charts in 2021, for example. With this solid foundation, the band is set to reach new heights, so make sure to connect with them to check their earlier material and stay tuned for future releases.
