2022 was a defining year for Brooklyn native Pook Hustle, with three singles receiving critical acclaim, a sold-out show this past December, a successful music video, and the launch of his merchandise, it’s fair to say that the hustleman is enjoying a hell of a momentum.
Just like in his previous releases, Pook Hustle takes his expertise to new exciting grounds in this new delivery, with meticulous attention paid to its polished production. Submerged in layers of effects and auto-tuned vocals, Grammy exhibits Pook’s songwriting skills, going deep in his verses and maintaining a level of lyrical intimacy.
And talking about emotion, the creation of this tune was surrounded by a lot of touching moments for Pook Hustle. Further elaborating on this, the Hustleman says:
“What started as a random cook-up session, quickly turned into a spiritual experience after mentioning my deceased step-father “Mr.John”, a kind, charismatic hustler from Harlem who meant a lot to me. After repeating his name in the hook, a powerful energy started taking shape over what you hear today.”
Backed by a high-tier production and mixing, Grammy exudes genuine sentiment and outstanding performance.
Always dedicated to his craft, Pook Hustle keeps harvesting the results of his hard work, and while he might not have a Grammy, a jam of this calibre deserves a lot of praise. You better watch out for The Hustleman because this year seems like it’s going to be one to remember.
