PAVÉ encourage us to strive for positive change by confronting those tough questions on ‘Thirst,’ their thunderous, show-stopping second release of 2023.
PAVÉ – Thirst
When we show kindness to others, is it because we care about them? Or are our true motivations rooted in our own self-serving nature, our professed consideration for others a mere mask for our own shallow ambitions?
PAVÉ are a four-piece rock band hailing from Manchester, fronted by Alanya-Jade on vocals, Kevin on guitar, Jack on bass, and Ben on drums. The group have been playing together for a while, and while their debut performance at Manchester’s Gorilla came just days before the national COVID-19 lockdown, their drive to make a name for themselves has propelled them forward despite the upheaval of the last few years.
Now, that persistence is finally starting to pay off. They’ve since sold out their debut Manchester headlining show at The Castle and were selected by The Hara to support the band for the Manchester date of their 2022 UK tour. The band’s footprint has only continued to grow in 2023, with support pouring in from both fans and music publications alike, including The Manc, Planet Rock, Clash Magazine, and RGM.
With the release of ‘Thirst,’ PAVÉ are continuing to champion the self-aware themes and genre-bending rock sound they’ve become known for. Their name is inspired by the French Revolution, Alanya explains, stating that “PAVÉ symbolizes rebellion, freedom, and fighting for beliefs, a message we strive to embody through our music, shows and community.”
‘Thirst’ explores those concepts in detail, with the Manchester rockers encouraging listeners to examine how an endless pursuit of escapism (both physical and mental) can have negative consequences for the world around us. Over a gritty, gut-punching riff and pounding drum beat, PAVÉ ask us to take a hard look in the mirror and question how human apathy can cause societal structures to crumble.
With powerful vocals and strong hooks, PAVÉ’s sound is reminiscent of early Paramore, while their lyrical focus on societal issues calls to mind Rage Against the Machine. ‘Thirst’ further solidifies their place as a band that’s impossible to ignore — though who would ever want to?
