Life Hack by Origami Tsunami is their first release of the year and it’s a vibrant, energy-packed jam full of everything that makes Math and Post Rock so special.
Origami Tsunami – Life Hack
Math Rock and Post Rock have always been genres that are considered synonymous with virtuosity, where experimentation and high levels of technique are the main traits, of course, it’s safe to say that not many musicians can excel at playing these musical styles, luckily that’s not the case with Origami Tsunami.
Origami Tsunami is a five-piece alternative band from Manchester, in 2019 they unveiled 2 well-received singles Something Deadly and Nothing Missed, this last one was featured on BBC Radio 6 with Tom Robinson who described the band as “Salford virtuosos” with “Jaw-dropping musicianship.”
In 2020 the band debuted their first EP ‘Drift Into the Sun’ consolidating themselves as one of the most promising acts in the Math Rock scene in the UK.
Now in 2022, the band premiered Life Hack, this song works as another way to demonstrate Origami Tsunami’s talent, the detail put into this track when it comes to the performance it’s simply brilliant, with speedy melodies and rhythms, great hooks, and an outstanding interpretation, hearing the guitar in this (or any song of this project) is an incredibly gratifying experience.
Of course, it would be unfair to talk about this work without mentioning the lyrics, the writing style of John Gellersen is very honest and direct, in this particular piece it is possible to appreciate the concept of overcoming insecurities and trying to live, even when uncertainty seems to prevail.
Life Hack is a rush of energy, fast, dynamic, and a real treat to the ears.
Origami Tsunami’s unique style and prowess make them an act that we are eager to hear from in the near future.
