One of our Ones to Watch 2015 bands Of Empires, this year’s MTV Brand New Unsigned winners have announced a headline show at The George Tavern on the 2nd July, tickets are available for £6 here. The show is presented by Marie Curie UK and will be the band’s biggest gig in the capital to date, following what has been a breaking year for the unsigned indie band.
The 4 piece have been building a buzz since the release of their début EP at the end of 2014, praised by The Guardian as “stomping, slow-motion riff-rock with snarling vocals and terrace-worthy choruses”. The band’s single “I Want You To Get Mad”, recently aired on the Huw Stephens show on Radio 1, with the video for the track also being added to the MTV Rocks Playlist on Sky TV and Virgin Media.
The band recently signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Metropolis Music Publishing, best known as the West London-based studio, recording legendary artists including Queen, Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse. Of Empires are Metropolis’ latest signing to the new and exciting publishing company. Fresh from playing to a full house at this years Great Escape Festival in Brighton, the band’s notoriety has caught the attention of many, including The Rolling Stones legend, Ronnie Wood calling himself a fan and British rock idol, Adam Ant, who personally invited the band to open shows on his recent UK Tour.
