Hailing from New Zealand, post-punk newcomers Menzies release their second single ‘Spaghetti Land’ in support of their debut EP.
Menzies – Spaghetti Land
Making their debut just a few months ago, the group are quickly moving from strength to strength. With a New Zealand tour already under their belt, Menzies are a band that are quickly demanding attention.
Bursting out of the speakers, Menzies’ ‘Spaghetti Land’ is an arresting ode to everything eminent about post-punk. The pulsating rhythm, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and cathartic guitars all blend together to create Menzies’ unique sound.
Punctuated with the occasional dramatic pause, ‘Spaghetti Land’ is a track that just keeps on giving. Whether driving through the intoxicating riffs, hooks and melodies, there’s an irresistible buzz in this band that you just can’t put your finger on. Clocking in at just under four minutes, the record embodies excitement that is seldom seen in a group so young. The band couples the release with an emphatic music video. A nod to childhood classic Crash Bandicoot, the video was directed by lead singer Chris Brown.
Speaking about the new release, Brown explains, “Spaghetti Land is a place we’ve all been to that we’re not proud of.. Where we’re not at our best”. The band are renowned for their electrifying live performances and are set to have a strong future ahead of them.
‘Spaghetti Land’ is an electrifying single, juggling crunchy guitars, driven rhythms and classic post-punk grit. With material this strong, Menzies are a band to keep a close eye on.
