Logan Ferguson is back with his second of 2024 with indie-enthused, instrumental ‘Tee Ball’. Based in Indianapolis, the latest single follows Logan’s ‘Hoopin’ earlier this year which saw him take the initial leap into the world of instrumental music.

The track starts strong with its strong pop underbelly and light-hearted instrumentation. Despite being a lyricless track, Ferguson spares no punches to craft something that feels unique and exciting. The pummeling drum beat keeps the record energized baseline holds down the groove. The pure-pop motifs that ooze out of Tee Ball are to be marvelled at. Ferguson’s synthesis gives the track a new lease of life and sonically takes it to another dimension.
The phrasing and arrangement of the record is one of my favourite points about this track. Some mainstream ‘stereotypes’ may be quick to disregard instrumental tracks, but ‘Tee Ball’ is a sensational example of just how innovative it can be.
When it comes to genre-bending, it can be easy to ascribe that a track is unique or groundbreaking in its field. Despite that, this is one of the only ways the record can be described. No matter which section you’re listening to, there’s always something interesting going on. The ambiguity in the genre is something to be commended – ‘Tee Ball’ is easily one of the most unique tracks I’ve heard this year. Ferguson encapsulates the best parts of pop and instrumental records and fuses them together to build something thrilling and contemporary.
