In anticipation of their upcoming LP, trans-Midwest synth rockers Kat and the Hurricane are back with their latest cathartic anthem, Therapy.
Kat and the Hurricane – Therapy
Hailing proudly from Madison, Wisconsin, and waving the LGBTQ+ flag with enthusiasm, Kat and the Hurricane is a trans synth rock/indie pop trio that has made a significant impact on their local music scene and beyond. Their memorable performances, a strong sense of community, and genre-defying lyrics have earned them a devoted following.
Since their debut in 2017, Kat and the Hurricane have made some waves by having numerous festival appearances, three regional and national tours, and an Artist of the Year award from the Madison Area Music Association. Their previous singles, such as Sorry That I’m Like This, Costume, On My Way Back, and Caffeine & Alcohol, have racked up thousands of streams, showcasing their rising popularity.
Adding a new and exciting chapter to their artistic journey, Kat and the Hurricane have unveiled their latest track, Therapy. They describe it as “dad rock for girlypops” or, more simply, “gay Weezer,” marking it as one of their most intense rock anthems to date.
In a striking shift in their musical style, Therapy alternates between gritty guitar riffs and catchy, sing-along choruses, supported by harmonious backing vocals that invite continuous humming. This track departs from their usual synth-focused sound, embracing a more edgy instrumentation.
As a cathartic alt-rock gem, Therapy expertly balances melody with powerful riffs, making it a standout track.
Look out for Therapy on Kat and the Hurricane’s upcoming album, Got It Out, set to release on October 4, 2024. With the excitement already building, their new LP promises to be an exhilarating listen.
