London artist JulianGK dives into the chaos of toxic relationships with Game of Blood, a track that captures the emotional turbulence and intensity of such experiences.
JulianGK – Game of Blood
Originally from Costa Rica and now based in London, JulianGK has been making waves in the alt-punk landscape. His deep-rooted passion for music, surfing, and skateboarding led him to take a bold step—moving to Los Angeles to chase his musical ambitions. Influenced by both East Coast and California punk, he found himself immersed in the scene, landing notable opportunities. He played the guitar for pro-BMXer Rick Thorne’s Good Guys in Black and New Born Authority, while also taking on bass duties for Troy. These experiences helped shape his distinctive sound, blending raw energy with a sharp punk edge.
In 2016, JulianGK moved to London and formed The Road Atlas, stepping into the role of frontman and gaining recognition. The band’s momentum was cut short in 2020 when he was forced to take a three-year hiatus due to an ear injury, temporarily pausing his musical journey. Despite this setback, his passion for creating music never faded, and he remained determined to return stronger, using the time to refine his artistic vision.
Following a period of uncertainty, JulianGK launched a new solo project in 2024, releasing several singles along with his highly anticipated debut EP, Heart On Sleeve. To keep his progress going, Julian is now introducing his latest track, Game of Blood, a powerful song that captures the intense emotions experienced when trapped in a toxic relationship.
While releasing a track like this on Valentine’s Day may seem a bit cynical, JulianGK believes Game of Blood resonates with both single individuals and those in relationships. For singles, the song might make you feel fortunate about your current status, while those in healthy, happy relationships will likely find themselves grateful not to be in a situation like the one depicted in the track. More importantly, JulianGK hopes that anyone in a toxic relationship will find the courage to open their eyes and seek a better life.
The influence of Californian punk is unmistakable in this track, with high-energy riffs, vibrant drums, and catchy vocal lines that will keep you humming all day long. In just two and a half minutes, Game of Blood delivers solid alternative punk that will make you want to turn up the volume and blast it through your speakers.
Game of Blood is a high-energy, euphoric alt-punk track that cuts straight to the chase with its infectious hooks and undeniable catchiness.
Fans can experience this electrifying sound live at JulianGK’s headline show on Thursday, February 27th, at The Fiddler’s Elbow in Camden.
