‘Langa Langa’ is solo folk artist Jess Morgan’s latest offering, following on from ‘Aye Me’ which was released through a fan-funded Pledge Music campaign in 2012.
Having just returned from a tour of Europe, an April/May tour of England is supporting the new release alongside an album launch in Jess’ home city of Norwich. Jess will be playing some of the most intimate venues around, from the bottom of Cornwall to The Isle of Man, allowing plenty of opportunities to catch her live. Summer dates are also expected soon alongside festival lineups. Visit her website for the latest live dates.
A self-confessed storyteller, Jess’ lyrics are captivating and easily absorbed. Each track on the album is a stand-alone single, individually enchanting as well as important segments of a well-rounded album. Each song is dynamic, which is what makes Jess stand out from the pool of female singer-songwriters associated with this genre. Her tracks are unique and have a different feel; some are upbeat and summery whilst others are more delicate and pretty. All of the tracks on this album maintain traditional folk values whilst also showcasing modern influence upon the genre.
Beautiful lyrics are intertwined with the simplicity of an acoustic track; consisting of guitar, banjo and strings. Jess’ vocals are simply gorgeous and it’s not hard to imagine it dripping through your radio this summer. When purchasing ‘Langa Langa’ through Jess’ Bandcamp page you will also receive a full lyric download, accomplished art pieces in their own right.
Folk Songbird Jess has received praise from Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson as well as stunning reviews from Time Out and The Guardian. Jess Morgan is one to watch and her new album is definitely worth a listen. Langa Langa is wonderful and politely enchanting from start to finish.
