2011 is without question the year of the female singer with Adele dominating the charts both here and in the US, Beyonce’s star as high as ever following her Glastonbury appearance, the continuing theatre of Miss Gaga and the tragic loss of Amy Winehouse.
No doubt hoping to join that illustrious group of chart dominators is South London songstress Jaynee, real name (Jane Mina Burns) who’s intriguing heritage combines Filipino & Scottish while her musical style fuses the edgy, sexy-street vibe of Rihanna, the genre-diffusing live band qualities of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers with the casual cool of Katy B. Luckily no mention of Bagpipes!
Her Debut single “You Ain’t Got Me” is out on 21st August with a full length debut album expected later in the year. To get you in the mood, why not download the brilliant acoustic version of the single here:

Jaynee comes with an impressive musical CV, schooled at Sylvia Young’s alongside the likes of Leona Lewis, followed by time at the star conveyer belt that is The Brit School, (Adele, Jessie J et al) where she honed her songwriting talent and production skills.
We think Jaynee is a star in the making.

“She writes, produces and records her own material, fusing acoustic indie with R&B and soul in a style befitting of an indie-soul bar (if such a place exists.)” – UK Soul Music Guide 2011
