This year Harry Heart is taking transformation in his stride. He first shared his new single ‘Can’t Be Led’ as music NFT, promising to only release it once the NFT had sold. The music NFT sold in 24 hours, and now he’s making good on his promise, sharing the song with us on all streaming services.
Harry Heart – ‘Can’t Be Led’
Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer Harry Heart knows how to blend stadium rock with a DIY aesthetic. As a British-Australian artist, he embraces duality. Refined yet messy. Traditional yet inventive. His guitar tone is a nod to U2 and The Killers. His production style shows influence from St Vincent and James Blake. Now he’s venturing deep into Web3, embracing the NFT space and blockchain technology.
Written and produced in Manchester, ‘Can’t Be Led’ is a dynamic, pulsing slow-dance of piano-focused electronica.
“I need a mantra, to remind myself of who I am and what I can do,” Heart explains “I told myself “I can’t be led” over and over in this song, and I want you to hear it and know that you can’t be led anywhere you don’t want to go”.
The song lends itself to the guitars of Tears for Fears, the earthshaking low end of DARKSIDE, and the vocal experimentation of Kanye West’s ‘808s and Heartbreak’. There is also a dash of Asleep In The Back era ‘Elbow’ in there too.
‘Can’t Be Led’ is one of those tracks that just continues to give with every listen. We recommend a good pair of headphones to really feel close to those hushed, yet powerfully repeating lyrics.
“An entrancing and enthralling piece of songwriting that you won’t be able to get out of your head.”
A strong advocate for independent artists, he releases music through Kinda Grizzly, the record label he founded with his brother Julian Wa and uses the label’s resources to aid his peers in Britain, Australia and beyond.
‘Can’t Be Led’ is out now and is the first single from the sophomore album ‘Cambistry’.
