We hold up our hands… we missed the first single from Torches, so this second offering ‘Someone Needs A Ritual’ / ‘Wolves’ serves as our entry point into their ‘noir-pop’ world. What an entrance it makes! There is a deliciously intense menace about this track, that hooks you in from the start. It’s a terrific fusion of synth stabs, electronic drum patterns and edgy guitar, topped with Charlie Drinkwater’s baritone, vocal pleadings. Second track ‘Wolves’ delivers a slower but no less powerful ride, with piano and electronic drums building to a thrillingly dark climax.
