Emerging Colombian musician Enla Arboleda has unveiled his latest single and music video, When The Light Goes Out, showcasing his refined talent and deep emotional themes.
Enla Arboleda – When The Light Goes Out
Enla Arboleda, the stage name of Santiago Giraldo Arboleda, is a Colombian artist now based in London. His musical journey began at just 7 years old when he joined a conservatory to study Colombian traditional music and guitar.
In recent years, Enla Arboleda has honed his sound, exploring a diverse range of genres including rock, metal, and indie rock. This evolution has led to the release of four albums across various projects. A significant milestone in his career came in 2012 when he joined Ekhymosis, one of Colombia’s most iconic bands. With Ekhymosis, he performed at major festivals in his home country, such as Altavoz Internacional, Calido Rock, and Car Audio Fest, among others.
To build anticipation for his upcoming album, Enla Arboleda has released a new single and accompanying video titled When The Light Goes Out. This track beautifully explores the emotional journey of reigniting a love that was once believed to be lost. While the song’s lyrics are deeply meaningful, the music video also carries its own special significance. Enla elaborates on this, saying:
“I wanted to create a simple video that captures a bit of my everyday life in London and those liminal spaces where I write my songs—places where paths cross and it feels like nothing will happen. These are locations where passers seem indifferent, yet they’re where musicians like me can find refuge to observe and create.”
Drawing from a wellspring of inspiration and creativity, Enla Arboleda showcases his skill with gentle guitar passages that evoke a sense of calm, beautifully complemented by his soothing vocals. Though the track features minimalist production, this simplicity is precisely what allows it to elicit a powerful emotional response from listeners.
When The Light Goes Out is a charming example of finely crafted indie artistry.
This single offers a glimpse into Enla Arboleda’s upcoming album, Other Ways to Find You. This self-produced project allowed him to explore new and uncharted territories as an artist, delving deeper into synths and sound design. The album will feature 12 tracks that delve into themes of love and life with a sense of mystery and nostalgia, all viewed through his unique perspective as a migrant in the UK.
