Offering a profound vision of heartbreak and longing through his music, Naples-born Emilio Lanza is back at it once more with his new single, Rearview Mirror, a piece that reflects on lost love and attachment.
Emilio Lanza – Rearview Mirror
After cutting his teeth by analyzing the work of guitar masters, Emilio Lanza started to gain some notoriety with his YouTube channel, playing covers of recognized artists like Ed Sheeran, James Bay, and Adam Rafferty, among many others.
In 2015, he took the opportunity to refine his musicianship even further by taking acoustic fingerstyle guitar lessons with Adam Rafferty. This experience would inspire Emilio to start sharing his work with the world and demonstrate what he was capable of.
However, the two moments that became hugely significant in his life were when he met James Bay online and in person, then one of his covers was shared by none other than Ed Sheeran himself.
Emilio’s music is characterized by translating aching emotions into beautiful melodies, offering listeners hope at the end of the tunnel. Such is the case for Rearview Mirror.
This composition displays Emilio’s guitar mastery and mixes it with an exquisite pop production, making the best out of this singer’s smooth vocal work. Additionally, the arrangements give this melody a sorrowful vibe, complemented by haunting back vocals courtesy of this track’s producer, Angelo Iossa.
Lyrics-wise, Rearview Mirror illustrates the protagonist of this auditive narration chased by the ghost of a lost love, tormented by these poignant sentiments but also strongly implying that he will move on eventually.
Rearview Mirror makes something beautiful out of nostalgia and longing.
From meeting his heroes to amassing thousands of subscribers and followers on social media, Emilio Lanza has been on a roll for quite a while now. If there is a living example that you can follow your dreams while being successful, it is this rising musician.
