2022 saw the arrival of a riveting new act, a band with an undefined style, capable of creating spectacular soundscapes where light and darkness blend, giving birth to otherworldly anthems, this is Egotist and their brand new offering When I Lie.
Egotist – When I Lie
Last year this quintet from Manchester made their debut with the track God, provoking awe-inspiring reactions from listeners. Two months later, the positive feedback continued with the follow-up single ‘I Worry Too Much’ proving that these guys are more than just a one-trick pony.
Looking to start 2023 on the right foot, Egotist has premiered another melody that brings back their distinctive cinematic approach and grandiose arrangements, except that this time, this particular composition portrays a more fatalistic scenario:
“When I Lie is about the inevitability of the end. Tracking back through small intimacies and unnoticeable details, It sways through the silence and rehashes those unspoken moments between two people.”
The already well-known soothing female back vocals and piano accompaniment take centre stage, followed by majestic drums like thunders in the sky, and Prior’s striking vocals, coming up as heart-wrenching than ever. If there is a song that embodies an unavoidable demise taken to highly spectacular levels, it is definitely this one.
‘When I Lie’ is an overwhelming display of musical epicness depicted in the most hauntingly beautiful way.
Egotist has done it again by creating a piece that is engaging despite its sombre subjects, like a moth to the flame, this is a melody that keeps you mesmerized at all moments with its powerful instrumentation and songwriting.
