Drive Thru Guru – Nothing Special

With their euphoric energy bursting through the speakers, Drive Thru Guru are bursting onto the airwaves with their no-holds barred approach to rock ‘n’ roll.

From the first beat to the last note, it’s clear that this blinding effort is sure to turn heads as the Bolton boys aim to make waves across the industry. The track embodies the sharp edge of 90s grunge groups whilst maintaining a shining pop tinge, keeping ‘Nothing Special’ feeling just as exciting as it does invigorating. There’s always been that special energy that’s ever present in guitar-driven music. It started out with bands like The Who and Led Zeppelin, with it carrying on into the 2000s with Oasis and Foo Fighters amongst many others. Just as ‘Nothing Special’ erupts into its chorus, “You’re not better than me, you’re alright but nothing special”, it’s clear that the energy and passion of rock ‘n’ roll is still alive and well in the North of England.

Initially envisioned as a solo project, guitarist Pete spent much of 2023 writing and recording as much material as he could. By early 2024, Drive Thru Guru was born with the addition of Dan and Keiron, keeping the groove locked in the rhythm section. Between them, their combined love and enthusiasm gave Pete’s tracks a fierce energy, resulting in a dynamic and powerful sound that reflects their creative spirit. It’s clear that the band have spared no expense in getting this track off the ground: everything from the roaring guitars, explosive drumming and sleek bass lines glue together to make that punchy sound, proving Drive Thru Guru’s desire to stand out from the rest.

‘Nothing Special’ is an electrifying ode to rock ‘n’ roll, complete with thundering guitars and punk-enthused lyrics.
