London-based synth-wave duo Double Exposure returns with their sophomore track, Alone, channelling the essence of 80s retro sound.
Double Exposure – Alone
Double Exposure is a London-based synth-wave duo of Daniel and Chiara, a couple both in music and life, united by their shared love for 80s music. Their passion for the decade shines through in their distinctive retro sound.
To capture the vibrant essence of 80s synth-wave, Double Exposure utilizes retro gear like the Moog Sub37, Prophet Rev2, and FM synths. Thematically, the duo delves into topics like unrequited love and the emotional challenge of letting go, embracing melancholy as a step toward healing.
In mid-2024, Double Exposure debuted with the track Electric Love, offering a clear glimpse into their musical style. Now, as the year ends, the duo is set to further establish their presence with the release of their second official song, Alone.
“Every note and lyric in our music tells a story that’s deeply personal to us” says Chiara. Daniel further elaborates, “Our hope is that our music resonates with anyone who’s experienced love’s complexities — both its joy and heartache.”
Although the title Alone may seem straightforward, its meaning runs deeper. The song reflects the feeling of being trapped in a never-ending cycle, where despite efforts to move forward, nothing changes. It also captures the sense of isolation that lingers even when surrounded by others, portraying a profound sense of disconnection and lack of belonging.
Alone weaves together layers of emotionally rich synths to evoke a heartfelt atmosphere that complements its introspective lyrics. Chiara’s comforting vocals further enhance the track, immersing listeners in an ethereal and dreamlike soundscape that ignites the imagination.
“A remarkable piece in its own right, Alone presents a beautifully melancholic portrayal of isolation, enhanced by its nostalgic retro vibes.”
Whether you’re into 80s throwback sounds or looking for a song to soothe your heartbreak, Double Exposure has you covered. Close your eyes and let this London duo lead you into a synth-wave paradise you won’t want to leave.
