‘So Tired’ is debut single from Cuz, the DIY garage-punk brainchild of East London musician Johnny Ryan. Formed in summer 2013, Cuz has already found fans in high places, with The Independent favourably comparing them to acts such as The Orwells and Splashh.
At a shade over two minutes this track doesn’t waste a second. There is no padding, no fluff, it’s just a raw, effortlessly cool ride from start to finish. Recalling Julian Casablancas at his most visceral, you’ll be hitting repeat.

Named after a fanzine by former Television and Voidoids member Richard Hell, Cuz draws influence from late 70s new-wave bands such as Modern Lovers and Talking Heads, as well as early Scorsese films and Bruce Davidson’s ‘Brooklyn Gang, 1959’ photo series.
So Tired is taken from Cuz’s forthcoming debut EP. The EP was written and recorded entirely by Ryan using only an old 8-track recorder, a £7 karaoke mic and a set of broken speakers. This is a formula he started with his short-lived but much-hyped former band Dirty Hands who found fans in the likes of A New Band A Day and Killing Moon, before soundtracking the Tim Roth-movie ‘The Liability’ and splitting up all in the matter of a few months. ‘So Tired’ represents a fresh dynamism from Ryan, and proves Cuz are an exciting new act that are here to stay.
So Tired is released on Monday 4 November 2013 via Fried brain Records.
