With strong influences from the late 90s /early 2000s alternative rock and metal scene, Caustic Waves is back with the 2nd single off his forthcoming new album.
Caustic Waves – Invisible Enemy
There was something very special about the late 90s rock scene, that amalgamation of rap and rock, the seven-string guitars, the growls mixed with clean vocals, that era worked as an inspiration for several young musicians and one of them is Caustic Waves.
This project from Glasgow, Scotland is the product of Neil Thomas, a versatile musician who was the guitarist on the alternative metal band Keitel, in the mid-2000s, afterwards, he became the bassist in the power-pop band, The Chinaskis, all these experiences shaped his musical style and became the archetype for his current enterprise.
Following the release of his debut single ‘Regenerate’, Caustic Waves is back with Invisible Enemy, this song follows a similar musical structure as its predecessor with layers of harmonies, the crunchy rhythm guitar, and a clear focus on those fantastic clean vocals, reminding us of the early works of bands like Deftones, Incubus or Eve 6.
The lyrics however are a different story, the main themes behind Invisible Enemy are the fear and anguish that so many people suffered during the Covid-19 pandemic but also the wish to keep fighting against these negative moments and leave this dark chapter behind.
Invisible Enemy is an aggressive and powerful track that will work as a time capsule of the difficult times that were the early 2020s
Despite being his debut, Caustic Waves is an artist that doesn’t feel amateurish at all, with stellar production, a great lyrical display, and prominent musicianship, this is a project that all fans of alternative rock should keep on their radars.
