Candy Rush is back on the RCM with her latest offering ‘Mr Snowman’. With her own brand of disco-pop, she is cementing herself as a strong force in the modern pop scene. The track is her second release of 2024 after the success of debut release ‘Don’t Even Want To Know’.
Candy Rush – Mr Snowman
Starting with intricate synths and funky basslines, Candy Rush’s second single offers effortless danceability and tireless melody. Penned with influence from the experiences of those closest to her, ‘Mr Snowman’ explores the dark allure of escapism and substance abuse. “Sugar coating salt mines, nothing wrong with some lies” bounces through the airwaves, blending a foreboding tale with a light-hearted pop twist. As the track develops, this sensational disco vibe gets stronger as the choruses get larger and larger.
Musically the track shines with its instrumentation reinforcing the strong pop sentiments that are ever present in the recording. Inspired by the likes of Gloria Gaynor, ‘Mr Snowman’ has that fun sense of playfulness, distinguishing Candy Rush’s artistry. Perhaps unintentionally, the record also has hints of Talking Heads with its light-hearted take on serious issues – bringing that alternative attitude into the mix.
The stark contrast between the light-hearted influences of ‘Mr Snowman’ and its gloomy lyrics creates a lovable peculiarity. The single has an aura that draws you in with its vibe and keeps you wanting more with its storytelling. ‘Mr Snowman’ packs a lot into a record which just falls shy of the three-minute mark. Candy Rush’s distinct ability to create perfect pop music is something which the industry is sure to commend her for.
‘Mr Snowman’ is a sensational, disco-filled anthem, complete with roaring basslines and robust danceability.
