Melodic guitars, gentle vocals, and a fun narrative blend together for Abigail Fierce’s latest release ‘Daphne’.
Abigail Fierce – Daphne
Coming in hot from LA, describing Abigail Fierce as multitalented is an understatement! Not only does she play the majority of the instruments for her diverse tracks, but she also shines bright on the screen having featured in This Is Us, Love, Victor, American Vandal, and more. It’s safe to say Abigail has an impressive resume. Now she is back with a dreamy and modern indie rock track titled ‘Daphne’.
‘Daphne’ is packed with nostalgia, reminiscent of 00’s punk rock and artists such as Avril Lavigne. It kicks off with loud energising guitars to set the stage for the narrative and experience-inspired lyrics. The beat slows to a prominent rhythmic pulse with rings of guitars which work effectively to balance out the verses and chorus. Abigail’s alluring and sharp vocals boost the throwback vibe of the track and complement the style brilliantly.
The chorus bursts back with the melodic guitar from the beginning and from the offset, it will be stuck in your head. It delivers a charming feel-good sound that is perfect if you need a pick-me-up. The LGBT angle also adds a welcome spin on an upbeat love song.
“A catchy chorus combined with story-driven lyrics makes ‘Daphne’ a delightful and upbeat indie rock hit.”
‘Daphne’ sports an excellent balance of pushing both the vocals and instruments to centre stage with the loud chorus juxtaposing with the stripped-back verses, making for an engaging listen. The lyrics are also fun and focused on a story which just adds to the enjoyment of this track.
Of the inspiration of ‘Daphne’, Abigail says that when she went to her local Starbucks: “she found herself pining after the cute barista with cat-eye eyeliner and a black toboggan” but the barista never wore a name tag so was nicknamed Daphne.
Therefore, ‘Daphne’ is a fantastic track for 00’s punk rock fans or those looking for an upbeat love song with a modern twist. Abigail Fierce is certainly an artist to keep an eye on!
