West Coast rockers Crymwav return with Sense of Adventure, a track that captures their raw punk energy with a dark, gothic edge.
Formed in 2022 from the remnants of Los Angeles band Smash Fashion, Crymwav brings together Roger Deering, Lloyd Stuart Casson, Greg Rogers, and Bruce Braddock. The band members, all from a similar musical background, were shaped by the American hardcore scene of the ’80s, as well as influences from punk, post-punk, goth, and NWOBHM, citing acts like Thin Lizzy, UFO, and The Ruts as key inspirations.
For frontman Roger Deering, the idea for Crymwav took shape during a stay in London:
‘Crymwav started to come together for me while I was staying in London around 3 years ago. I went to London to visit my girlfriend who was staying in Ladbroke Grove, a songwriting spree came to me..I wanted to channel the bands from that area.. Hawkwind, Clash, Killing Joke, Motörhead, and I came back to LA with a fistful of songs.’
Building on the momentum of their 2023 EP 24/7—praised by Classic Rock and Guitar World Magazine—and their 2024 single Contagious, Crymwav now unleash Sense of Adventure. The track fuses their high-energy punk sound with the goth-infused aesthetics of bands like The Damned. Add a dose of swagger, and the result is a rock anthem with a serious attitude.
Musically, Sense of Adventure grabs hold with an irresistible hook, blending danceable grooves and a rhythm section that keeps the energy high. The chorus “Where’s your sense of adventure? You’re just not fun anymore.” delivers a punchy, memorable moment. At the same time, the guitar solo adds a thrilling edge, guaranteed to send shivers down your spine.
“Sense of Adventure is a relentless rock banger that pairs sharp musicianship with a striking aesthetic and an undeniable attitude.”
To complement the song, a visually striking music video directed by Joe Cardamone captures the band’s dynamic presence.
London fans can catch Crymwav live at the iconic Cart & Horses on March 28, sharing the stage with Syteria—featuring Girlschool’s Jackie Chambers—and Star Circus. Expect a night packed with high-energy rock and electrifying performances.
