Garage rock quartet wht.rbbt.obj share Unlucky 13 and it’s all about the riff.

wht.rbbt.obj – Unlucky 13

What began as a secret side project between married couple Frank and River Rabbitte has blossomed into the Chicago garage rock powerhouse known as wht.rbbt.obj. Renowned for their cryptic themes and bluesy, soul-infused rock, they have earned acclaim for their seamless genre-blending.

Wht.rbbt.obj has graced several festivals, including notable performances at SXSW and Milwaukee’s Summerfest. They’ve also shared the stage with prominent bands such as Moon Walker, Eve6, and Mom Rock. Their regional tours have taken them across the United States, hitting cities like Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Louisville, Nashville, Davenport, Memphis, Richmond, Dallas, Waco, and Austin. It’s clear they have no shortage of experience.

Their new single Unlucky 13 holds special significance for several reasons. It marks the band’s first-ever collaboration, originating back in 2019 and representing a pivotal moment in their journey together. Previously, Frank and River adhered to a “no comment” rule regarding each other’s music. However, that changed when River pushed to enhance a bass riff Frank was developing. This curious moment gave birth to Unlucky 13, which was quickly demoed and aired on Chicago’s WKQX Q101 within weeks.

And talking about that riff, this one is so catchy that it will linger in your mind for days. Paired with understated drums and River’s raw, compelling raspy vocals, Unlucky 13 offers an enjoyable auditory experience that ironically leaves you feeling anything but unlucky. Along with the single, they have also launched an exciting music video to promote it.

Unlucky 13 is a pure garage rock banger, as alluring as it is engaging.

Although they have achieved a great deal already, Unlucky 13 shows that wht.rbbt.obj is just getting started. It highlights the band’s promise and suggests they have much more in store. Get ready, because this is a name you’ll be hearing more of very soon.
