Following a highly successful year as an artist, independent singer-songwriter Caitlin Lavagna releases her reflective new track ‘October’.
When discussing Caitlin Lavagna, it’s essential to recognize her as a true multidisciplinary artist. As a musician, actor, voice-over artist, drummer, and songwriter, she has worked tirelessly to pursue her creative aspirations.
The year 2024 has proven to be exceptionally fruitful for Caitlin, filled with achievements and fulfilled goals. Her talents extend beyond music, as she portrayed ‘Mrs. Gloop’ and ‘Grandma Georgina’ in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Aberystwyth Arts Centre. This summer, she returned to her roots in Gibraltar as part of the lineup for The Weekender 2024.
This time, Caitlin is sharing a musical piece that reflects a challenging chapter in her life. October, aptly named for the current month, transports us back to a year ago when everything seemed to be going well for her—pursuing her passions, making new friends, and travelling, all alongside someone she genuinely believed loved her. However, this idyllic period took an unfortunate turn when she was left feeling ghosted and vulnerable. As she explains:
“The song follows a year of being ignored by someone who I believed loved me. I suppose releasing it now makes it a cathartic song, attempting to take back my favorite month, a time for me. I want to take the listener on a personal, raw, and honest journey of grief and unexplained loss. Quite simply, a brutal end to a beautiful connection”.
With the beautifully poignant line, “October used to be my favorite month,” we are introduced to this heart-wrenching ballad. Accompanied by nostalgic acoustic guitar strums and delicate piano melodies, Caitlin pours her heart into the performance, showcasing one of her most passionately delivered pieces to date. Her remarkable vocal abilities shine through, leaving listeners in awe.
