Backwoods Creek – ‘Alright’
Sometimes you just need someone to tell you everything is going to be alright. That you will get through this, that the problems that seem huge today will not matter in a few weeks. And if you want that message delivered through an incredibly catchy rock song, look no further than Backwoods Creek’s appropriately named ‘Alright’!
Backwoods Creek are a UK-based rock band that have been steadily releasing for a few years. This song was born out of a desire to give their audience a feel-good anthem, and it has nailed that brief.
‘Alright’ is a stomping, highly catchy Southern rock track, with a let-it-go message and huge energy.
The main hook ‘alright, everything will be alright’ is as simple and instantly memorable as you could wish, but some richer detail is slipped into the verses, with sly lyrics noting some shenanigans – ‘I swear I didn’t do it’ – and cheekily referencing a girls’ night that ‘got a little rampant – Guess the rabbit went down well?’. The melodies are solid and well-crafted, and delivered in classic rock vocals with a hint of gravel in them. The vocal harmonies are fantastic and play up that sing-a-long feel.
The production begins with driving drums, and adds chugging bass and epic guitars, with insidious little guitar licks and pops of percussion. This is clearly a tight outfit that would shine in a live setting. There’s a classic feel here, bringing to mind acts like Bon Jovi and Queen, and it’s hard to resist the high energy of this track.
