Whynotfrank release the other-worldly track ‘Over’. Get ready to be hypnotised.
Whynotfrank – Over
Having released three singles throughout 2022, newcomers Whynotfrank cap it off with ‘Over’, a mystical alt-rock track that goes hard.
Up-and-coming Italian rock duo Asia Angelozzi and Chris D’Eramo, aka. Whynotfrank, released a string of catchy singles throughout 2022, with the last being ‘Over’. And it leaves you wanting more!
The pulsing beat as ‘Over’ opens leaves you with goosebumps as you’re greeted with an ethereal and almost supernatural sound that has your interest piqued from the offset. The buzzes add to the tension as Asia’s hauntingly beautiful vocals commence, which ring some symphonic metal bells.
Whynotfrank do an excellent job of creating a ghostly atmosphere within the opening 20 seconds. The layered vocals are also incorporated effectively to amplify the mystical tone of the track.
Whynotfrank’s ethereal single ‘Over’ makes you want it to be anything but over!
As the chorus kicks in, Whynotfrank greet us with a combination of electronic and alternative rock sounds to deliver a subtle element of surprise for those unfamiliar with the duo. The chorus is powerful but executed in a way that doesn’t feel over the top or detracts from the slow tension that has been built up. It is emotionally driven especially with the change of intonation in the vocals from the softer and more subdued sound in the verses to the power and emotional charge in the chorus.
The ending of ‘Over’ caps off with a stellar instrumental section that serves as a natural divide in the track and also allows Chris to have some time to shine, and he does ever so brightly. The section sticks true to the slow and melodic atmosphere the single has seen already, and adds some extra heaviness and flavour to the overall sound.
‘Over’ is a song that has a hypnotic feel to it throughout thanks to the musicianship and vocals coming together so naturally well, but Whynotfrank also aren’t afraid to put their own spin on the alt-rock genre. The verses deliver the ethereal dreamy sound and the chorus ramps up with more of a punch but still sticks close to the ghostly sound.
This is a fantastic track if you’re looking for something a little bit different from the alternative rock genre.
