The band also currently comprises Zack Humphrey (drums), Will Krause (bass) and Winston Barrett (guitar, keyboards). Their highly dynamic sound features muscular riffs and odd time signatures and mixes progressive and indie elements into an explosive, hard-charging formula, taking inspiration from acts as diverse as Rush, Royal Blood and Mastodon. Expanding their enterprising soundscapes developed through years of live performances and the crafting of an impressive studio catalogue, Megafauna are gearing up towards the release of their sixth full-length album with the recent release of lead single ‘Capsize’.
Structured around a monolithic, relentless guitar riff and propelled by the rhythm section’s pulsating and tight execution, ‘Capsize’ has Neff’s soaring, melodic vocals being delivered with unconditional aplomb, building momentum during the verses before reaching their peak in the catchy, electrifying chorus.
A convergence of progressive metal-inspired intricate heaviness and colourful pop sensibilities, the song swaggers into the ears and makes an instant impact, functioning as the perfect tease for the band’s upcoming album.
