Directly from Estonia comes California Condor, a band with a chameleonic sonic style that takes the expression ‘genre-blending’ to a whole new level. Their fascinating spin on Alternative rock spiced with their own Northern European flavour will have listeners over the edge of their seats.
California Condor – Dissident
The combination of Alternative Rock, Metal, and Hip-hop is nothing new. Over the last three decades, subgenres like Nu Metal, Post Grunge, and Rap Metal succeeded at keeping this engaging amalgamation in the mainstream rock scene, however, Estonia’s own California Condor excels at bringing their own take to this mixture while maintaining things fresh, adding unusual yet charming elements.
This collective from Northern Europe has attracted a lot of attention thanks to their assertive stage presence, untamed attitude, and ferocious live performances, which go on pair with their over-the-top sound, evidenced in the track Dissident.
Distorted guitars meet with majestic synths, accompanied by deep and impactful vocals in the verses that set the stage for the devastating harsh vocals that follow afterwards, all wrapped in a strong protest message:
“This track is dedicated to the ones who stand for righteous principles and who stick by these principles no matter what. Nothing can remove these principles from the person, because he knows it’s the only truth.” said the band about the single.
Dissident is a formidable example of head-banging madness and a definitive must on any Hard Rock playlist.
Things are definitely looking great for this wild outfit, still with more music on the horizon, an upcoming show at the Worldwide Music Expo in Lisbon later this month, and a European tour in 2023. It seems that this condor has taken flight, and its momentum will continue for quite a while. We certainly expect to hear more from this great act in the following months.
