Beyond the ethereal realm of electronica and alternative music lies a conglomerate of sounds that simple words cannot describe, under this exclusive umbrella, we can find the classy and sober sound of Bite The Boxer.
Bite The Boxer – Like A Ghost
Bite The Boxer made his debut in 2020 with the release of the album The ’86 Sound, afterward he spent most of 2021 unveiling a generous amount of singles and two EPs. It was clear from the beginning that this was a noteworthy project, rather than being another cookie-cutter electronic outfit, BTB has gained notoriety with his blend of different genres, such as alt-pop, synth-wave, ambient, lo-fi, and chillwave, among many more, distinguishing himself from other producers and artists.
Like A Ghost is an engaging track that defies the established blueprints of electronic music, immersing the listener into a mesmerizing world of dreamy soundscapes.
Aside from the music itself, part of Bite The Boxer’s appeal comes from his unique creative process, which often comes from his live twitch streams, this peculiar procedure has helped this artist to sharpen his skills and define his style, as he explains:
“Writing music live with people watching encourages me to trust my instincts and produce by feel; nobody wants to watch me do fine-tuning and tweaks for 2 hours. I try to avoid over-thinking the process. If I can finish a 2.5-hour stream with the bulk of a song finished, and it sounds good then that’s an ideal result.”
Like A Ghost can be accurately described as the culmination of all this musical baggage for BTB, the production of this track (and his previous singles) could easily compete with the titans of the electronic scene. The elegant synth accompanied by the hazy backing vocals set the relaxed atmosphere with the feminine voice guiding the listener through a one-of-a-kind trip.
Despite the title of this song, there is not a scary connotation attached to it, a great interpretation of this piece would be that it feels like an out-of-body experience. It certainly could be the perfect tune for a chill Sunday afternoon watching the sunset.
