Sad King Billy is the debut solo project by Australian music artist Julian Peet. Based in Perth, the home to many incredible acts such as Tame Impala, Pond, Empire of the Sun and Methyl Ethyl, Julian has played, toured and recorded with various bands in the Australian original music scene for over a decade. Sad King Billy’s latest album, Mental Wealth, which is due for release in 2021, features ten brilliant, meticulously-crafted tracks, supported by immersive visual content from Melbourne, 3D artist, Cody Roberts.

Released today, Sad King Billy’s track Runneth takes the listener on a journey through the dark and beautiful. It is catchy, compelling and entrancing, creating a unique and unusual atmosphere that you’re not ready to leave when the track comes to an end. Runneth explores themes of fear, isolation, internal conflict and internal reflection, with terrific lyricism that incorporates dark biblical allusions and imagery, adding to the richness and the fascinating turmoil of the track.
The accompanying artwork for Runneth is equally striking; the back of a head looking out at a crimson galactic sky — a boldly mesmerizing, futuristic image that builds on the track’s unique, enigmatic atmosphere. Runneth is not just a song, but rather an experience. Julian Peet’s work transports you; to a new world, or to a hidden spot deep within your mind.
