Exploding onto the Glaswegian alt-rock scene ‘Pizza Crunch’ has been quick to make an impact, with their first single ‘Fraud’ turning heads at BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio.
Introducing Pizza Crunch
After forming in late 2019 the band headlined Club Sabbath, before battling through the gig-less days of the pandemic only to come out stronger with a signing to Disobedient records and a brand new EP, ‘Off Their Heads’, showcasing their fantastic sound.
Pizza Crunch – Off Their Heads
It’s clear that Pizza Crunch came for a good time not a long time with ‘Off Their Heads’; and a good time is certainly what you get with this EP. Featuring three stellar tracks, the project explores the impressive variety that these musicians are capable of delivering. Ranging from the wistful and retrospective story of “La Tour De Carol”, to the thrashing, high tempo belter that is “Fraud”, ‘Off Their Heads’ give us a remarkable glimpse into the world of these four lads from Glasgow. As the name suggests ‘Off Their Heads’ teems with the energy of the young and unashamed, as frontman Ewan Hearns explains:
“Fraud” very much takes you through the peak of the recklessness, “Twelve Month Seasonal Depression” has a look at the consequences and “La Tour De Carol” is written about a place I went two years ago after we went there as a band. It sort of looks back, acknowledging we didn’t appreciate its beauty enough. A bit like all those years we spent blindly pished.”
With more music being cooked up behind the scenes, 2021 is looking to be a good year for Pizza Crunch and Disobedient Records. The record label, founded by Daniel Thomas of Independent Music News, focusses on showcasing fantastic independent acts, as well as releasing a monthly compilation album raising money for multiple UK charities.
