This week’s First Signs of Love featured band are Irish four-piece The New Social. The band formed in December 2013 and consists of Niall P Fahey (Vocals), Darren Moran (Guitar), Mike McDermott (Bass) and Cathal Ward (Drums / Vocals). They are currently supporting Amazing Apples on tour and recently played Moxegen, the GMIT student festival. The band are currently working on new material and if it’s half as good as this track ‘With You’ we’re in for a treat.
You can just tell that The New Social love making music, and this energy and enthusiasm is perfectly captured on ‘With You,’ the jangly guitar intro has a slight 60s retro feel. The opening line ‘Today has been the worst day of my life” momentarily wrong foots you, before any negativity is countered with an explanation “But it was worth it for last night.” rasping lead vocals, a bed of sumptuous harmonies and explosive, searing guitars bring this track to the most thrilling of climaxes. Listen out for ‘With You’ on tomorrow’s episode (127) of our Lost On Radio show.
